They were a half decent band until after the release of Dirk Wears White Socks when McLaren took half of the band to form Bow Wow Wow.

After that they were a comedy band with war paint and two drummers

One of my brothers had just finished his apprenticeship at BR Stratford, one of his mates asked him if he wanted to earn some dosh of an evening rigging up stage lighting for a new group who were playing in Ilford at the weekend.

None of us had heard of them, my brother was given a pre-relase 7" vinyl of their record Antmusic has a gift, which we managed to lose.

Chim Chim it was 2002. But I remember The Prince of Wales. I spent early 90s living in Chalk Farm - Primrose Hill. Before the wankers moved in . Rough pub I seem to remember .

Yes, that pub was The Prince Of Wales just around the corner from me and he ended up getting sectioned for it.

Of course it's 'luxury apartments' now which is a shame as they had a decent pool table.

My first gig ever, on the Goody two Shoes tour in 1982. I had a profound man-crush in him, and they were brilliant. Kings of the Wild Frontier is a storming album. Full blast whack a doodle. Fairly steep descent after, and I gave up by Strip. Still love him though, Blondie and the Ants were perfect for my 13 year old self. Then The Smiths happened...

My old man was an original too Sold, although he wasn’t one to divulge his whereabouts as he was apparently often up to no good as he loved a handmade suit at that was is gauge on what was smart. A bit harsh, but in fairness the main mob of the mods in the 80’s would chuck a skanky old parker to hide their smartness.
As for the 80’s skinheads he hated them as apparently the late 60’s early 70’s skinheads were far smarter with longer crops and sideburns…..I didn’t have the option of either due to him as I was about 10 or 11 and by the time I got to my teens the casuals were the best thing to be….closest I got was a rude boy in pegs!

Mods in the 80’s were scruffy cunts according to the original 60’s mods….

My old man was an original from the La Discoteque and Wardour Street club days... and he never called me a scruffy cunt... then again he would have been wearing a tank top and flares around the time I was getting suited and booted... the third class fucking ticket...

Far Cough Adam stated that Gary Glitter influenced him during that time when AA appeared as a video guest for Gary Glitter on "THIS IS YOUR LIFE".

Even more recently, Adam Ant performed with the Glitter Band singing "Ant Music".

Didn't he smash up a pub around 2007 somewhere?? He had been teased earlier for his hat & receding hairline (which it covered) and he came back later & smashed the window in ...

Also heard that mid-eighties he went off to LA and dated a young Uma Thurman...not bad going
